Marianne Hurum lives and works in Oslo, Norway. Her artworks consist of canvases and mixed media sculpture.

She examines the facets of painting undulating between representation and abstraction. By extension of this attempt she creates works that posses energetic gestures and passing visions. This catching and loosing of imagery is reflected in her content as she is keen to combine the banal and the spiritual mirroring her own mindset.

From 2002 to 2007 she attended the Malmø Art Academy at the University of Lund in Sweden from where she holds a MFA. She has been an exchange student to the Oslo National Academy of the Arts as well as the University of Illinois at Chicago in the US. In 2019 she had a solo exhibition at the Lillehammer Art Museum. Other solo exhibitions include various venues in Norway as well as in the United States and Germany. She has participated in group exhibitions at institutions such as Astrup Fearnley Museet, Kunstnerforbundet, Kulturhuset Stockholm, The Stavanger Art Museum and 0-0 LA. From 2012 -2016. She held the position as the chairperson at the artist union and exhibition space Unge Kunstneres Samfund (Young Artists' Society).
